I figured it's about time I reviewed The Balm's Nude 'Tude palette, I've had it for a little while now after winning it in a lovely giveaway. I've poked and prodded at it enough to give you the low down; this is a neutrals palette featuring a mix of matte and shimmer shades, making it really versatile - a lot like the trio of Naked palettes, Stila's 'In the Light' and MUA's various neutral offerings.
Any shimmers included are subtle and easily suitable for day time make up; even the intense matte black 'Serious' would work as a liner. On to the nitty gritty, I think this is a fantastic palette and if you're someone who knows what you want from your cosmetics then it could easily be the sole contender in your eye shadow collection as it just has everything a neutrals fan could want.
The pigmentation is fantastic and a slick of eye primer transforms each of the shades, basically doubling the colour possibilities. To give you a better idea of this I've done a swatch of every shade with and without primer, glamorously modeled on my fore arm.
|The top row of the palette, L-R: Sassy, Stubborn, Selfish, Sophisticated, Sexy and Serious|
The bottom row of the palette, L-R: Snobby, Stand-Offish, Sultry, Seductive, Silly and Sleek.
You can see some of the shades are subtle washes of colour that become intense, buildable shades when used with a primer. I'm sorry that the lighting is a little off and grainy in the first one, my living room is unbelievably sunny at this time of year. The colours are like the second image in terms of texture/appearance - not the odd, greasy sheen that the first image suggests!
Overall? Pricey but an incredible palette for a neutrals fan with practically endless possibilities and an amazing standard of product. I'd definitely recommend it!
